Ellen Jane & Russell Kness Fund

The Ellen Jane & Russell Kness Fund was established from the last will and testament of Ellen Jane Kness.

Her will stated that the Armstrong County Community Foundation create a fund to serve the Apollo area. 

She was born on Saturday, July 9, 1932 in South Bend Twp., the daughter of the late Roy and Georgiana Turner Coleman.

Before her retirement, she was a Bookkeeper for US Steel and the Tax Collector for Kiski Twp. She attended the First Presbyterian Church of Apollo. Jane enjoyed playing cards and taking bus trips with her husband. She was a devoted wife and mother and most loved being with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years; Russell D. “Boots” Kness and her beloved son, Christopher Lee Kness, her sister; Martha Coleman Bortz and her brother; Tom Coleman and his wife, Janice.
