Supporting Students Beyond the School Week

Volunteers assemble weekend snack bags for students through the PATH program.

Access to nutritious food is important every day of the week.  Through the  Providing Alternatives to Hunger (PATH) program, Leechburg Area School District is helping students by providing nutritious weekend snack bags.

The program helps extend food support beyond the classroom, giving students access to additional snacks and food when school is not in session.  Behind each bag is planning, coordination, and the time and effort of those who help make this program possible.

From placing food orders to organizing packing events, Providing Alternatives to Hunger and its volunteers are working together to support local students and families.  The program's efforts also help lay the groundwork for the upcoming school year, allowing this support to continue.

A grant from the Harry C. Brenneman Memorial Fund, a component fund of the Armstrong County Community Foundation, helped purchase food and supplies for the 2025-2026 school year and get the program underway for 2026-2027.

We appreciate Providing Alternatives to Hunger and everyone involved in making this program possible and supporting students beyond the school week.
