A Week of Adventure: The Salvation Army Helps Children Experience Camp Allegheny

Happy children in a Salvation Army van on their way to Camp Allegheny in Elwood City for a week of outdoor adventure, friendship, and lasting memories

The Salvation Army helped provide children with the opportunity to attend Camp Allegheny in Elwood City for a week filled with fun, friendship, and outdoor adventure.

Through three different camping sessions, children had the chance to step outside their everyday surroundings and experience all that the summer camp has to offer.  From spending time outdoors and trying new activities to making friends and creating lasting memories, camp provided an opportunity for children to explore, grow, and simply enjoy being kids.

For some children, attending Camp Allegheny is their only opportunity to experience the country outside of Armstrong County.  Experiences like these can open the door to new adventures, build confidence, encourage friendships, and create memories that stay with children long after the week is over.

The camping experience was made possible through grants awarded from the Harry C. Brenneman Memorial Fund and the David C. Kohl Family Fund, both component funds of the Armstrong County Community Foundation.

The Salvation Army continues to make a difference in the lives of children and families in our community by helping provide opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach.
