Dr. A.I. Slagle Medical Education Scholarship
Augustus Ira Slagle, MD was a practicing physician from Westmoreland County. He was born January 25, 1884 to Samuel J. and Jennie Linweber Slagle. He married Mabel R. Slagle who passed on September 3, 2006.
This fund consists of two scholarships. Both are available to adult students who have graduated from Apollo Ridge High School, Armstrong High School (including Kittanning High School and Ford City High School), Kiski Area High School, or Leechburg High School.
The Dr. A.I. Slagle Medical Education Scholarship is for students entering their first year at an accredited medical school in the US to obtain an MD or DO. This is a 4-year renewable scholarship if the student remains in satisfactory academic standing.
Mable R. Slagle Nurses Training Scholarship
The Mable R. Slagle Nurses Training Scholarship is for students enrolled in a nursing program at an accredited college/university in the US OR a student entering (first year) a nursing program at a recognized hospital training school. This is a 4-year renewable scholarship if student remains in satisfactory academic standing.
